Issue 65
Here’s what we have for you in FREEZE64 issue 65:

LOAD “ISSUE 65”,8,1
“Fortune and Glory, Kid. Fortune and Glory.”

FOUND ISSUE 65
“Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?”

COVER FEATURE: ROCKY & CO.
Yes, Folks! Our intrepid adventurer Rocky Memphis is back, and this time around he’s joined by two of his skilful companions Spud & Jet. We check out ICON64’s new adventure for the Commodore 64, and pass it through our FREEZE-O-MATIC to see what comes out the other end.

ANDREW BRAYBROOK: LOOKING BACK…
Part 3 of Andrew Braybrook’s exclusive and captivating feature. In this issue he starts to look back and pick off his games for the C64 one at a time, starting with his first release for our beige breadbin, 3D Lunattack!

JULIAN RIGNALL’S CCRAPBACK!
Our Julian has another small collection of slimy stinkers from ZZAP!64 issue 5, which was published back in September 1985. They include Out on a Limb, and Ian Botham’s Test Match. It’s all CCRAP from here on!

SECRET SQUIRREL INVESTIGATES
This time around our intrepid fluffy rodent has three pages of secrets to share with you, which includes the games: Zombie Calaver Prologue, Radius, Puzznic, and Space Gun. He certainly knows his stuff!

THE DEVELOPERS’ DEN: TREVOR INNS
Our veteran game developer for this issue is none other than Trevor Inns, who spent most of his Commodore 64 career porting ZX Spectrum games to our trusty, old breadbin. We chat with Trevor about the ins and outs to porting successful games such as Bobby Bearing, and Fairlight. Lots to share!

THE GAMES WE TYPED IN: ASTEROID DEATH SHIP
Our Games We Typed In feature is back with another favourite BASIC game type-in of mine from 1984, which was written by an Australian 16-year-old called Gary Ryan. Gary was the programmer who also wrote the GWTI listing from FREEZE64 issue 34. He was definitely a clever, young guy.

A MOMENT WITH… JOHN ROWLANDS
It has been a few issues since we last heard from Commodore 64 programming legend John Rowlands, and seeing that he’s still a much loved and valued member of the FREEZE64 family, we wanted to grab him for a chat about his history with computers and also his time producing games with his brother Steve for our beloved, little beige breadbin. The great man himself is back for a chat over a cuppa and a tin of biscuits.

OUT OF THE ‘MOULDY CUPBOARD’
Time, once again, to delve into the Mouldy Cupboard and retrieve one of my old and quirky games that I acquired as a spotty teenager back in the early eighties. This time around, we’re looking at Grab-a-Crab, which is a 1983 release from the lesser-known software publisher Euro-Byte (who? Exactly!) Programmed by Dave Lucas, who is also the programmer behind Euro-Byte’s Mr. Mephisto, the game looks as if it’s going to be a Pac-Man clone.

DIARY OF A GAME – INBREAD BY KARL HÖRNELL
Part 4 of our INBREAD development diary by the great Karl Hörnell. This time around, Karl starts looking at memory allocation. A fascinating insight into the development of a Commodore 64 game in modern times.
