COVER FEATURE: THE LAST NINJA 2
We revisit and celebrate one of the Commodore 64’s finest isometric arcade adventure games, The Last Ninja 2. System 3’s second Ninja outing is definitely worthy of a FREEZE64 cover feature – and more!
LET’S HACK: THE LAST NINJA 2
Okay – so admittedly, I’m not the greatest at playing The Last Ninja 2, but I can comfortably make my way around the game’s code and tweak a few elements here and there, which I am happy to share with you all. POKES galore that will help you through the first 2 levels with ease – including walking on water and through the walls!
JULIAN RIGNALL’S ZZAPBACK!
Our Julian ZZAPSBACK to April 1988 to revisit the top scoring Commodore 64 games from ZZAP!64 issue 36, which include Dan Dare II, TRAZ, The Train: Escape from Normandy, 4th and Inches, and Strike Fleet. Lots of great memories… but what does Julian think of the games today? You’ll have to read the issue to find out.
SECRET SQUIRREL INVESTIGATES
Three new squirreling case files for you to check out: Ollie’s Follies, Butcher Hill, and Fantastic Soccer. Our intrepid Squirrel has got it covered.
DEVELOPERS’ DEN: MATT GRAY
If you’re looking for a movie style score produced on the Commodore 64 SID-chip, then look no further than the incredibly talented musician and maestro that is Matt Gray. Matt takes us back to his early years of producing music for C64 games such as Que-Dex, Hunter’s Moon, and, of course, The Last Ninja 2. Lots to chat about and plenty to reveal – including how much he was being paid!
WE DON’T DO REVIEWS!
It’s common knowledge that WE DON’T DO REVIEWS, and so in this issue we quietly check out the delightful platformer, MIKE MECH by LC-Games. A fun, little game worthy of some screen time.
COMPOSER WATCH 1985 – PART 1, WITH CHRIS ABBOTT
Chris Abbott continues his Composer Watch journey and reveals the C64 SID composers and their fab tunes from 1985 (part 1).
OUT OF THE ‘MOULDY CUPBOARD’
The ultra-rare Groovy Garden is plucked from the ever-moulding cupboard. We’ll have a play and mini-review, and then decide if it needs putting back or keeping out of The Mouldy Cupboard.
Our Built-in Cheats feature is back! We have 4 more built-in game cheats to share with you – no fuss, and no FREEZE/reset cartridge required.
