IN FREEZE64 ISSUE 38:

COVER FEATURE: RAMBO – FIRST BLOOD PART 2
How could I have my very own Commodore 64 fanzine and *not* feature Tony Pomfret’s Rambo – First Blood Part II at some point? It was always going to be, as it’s a top favourite C64 game of mine, and holds so many good memories. Oh – and let’s not forget the fact that I, and many of my school friends, were also massive fans of Sylvester Stallone – “Why are you pushing me?” Anyway – we reminisce about Ocean Software’s C64 hit from 1985, as well as checking out the elements that go to make up this fine run ‘n’ gun game.

READERS’ RAMBOLINGS
Enough of me rambling on about how much I love Rambo on the Commodore 64. We get a more balanced perspective and ask a few of our lovely FREEZE64 subscribers what *they* think of the game and their memories of playing it back in the day…

DIARY OF A GAME – THE MAKING OF BADLANDS
Veteran C64 programmer Steve Collins is back with part 12 of his Badlands diary entries – The Making of. Not long now before the game is complete!

JULIAN RIGNALL’S ZZAPBACK!
Our very own Julian celebrates SIZZLERS and a Gold Medal from ZZAP!64 issue 19 – Nov’86, which includes World Games, Sanxion, Dan Dare and Trivial Pursuit. Lots of views and memories in this regular column.
SECRET SQUIRREL INVESTIGATES
Keeping with the Rambo theme, our intrepid squirrel spots something odd within the game, and shares it with us all. There’s also something ‘revealing’ in a new C64 title that was part of the 4k Craptastic game competition. A shower of secrets!
CODERS’ CORNER: ANDREW DAVIE – PART 2
In our previous chat with Andrew Davie, we discussed the making of Mugsy’s Revenge, which was his first game for the Commodore 64, and so this time round we move on to another of his well-known C64 titles, Street Hassle, as well as chatting about his time in the C64 software industry. An incredibly revealing interview.
THE GAMES WE TYPED IN: HUNCHY
Definitely a popular column with our readers! This time round THE GAMES WE TYPED IN looks back at a mighty-fine type-in called Hunchy, which first appeared in C&VG magazine back in March 1985. You won’t believe that it’s 100% BASIC!
THE MAKING OF… RAMBO – First Blood Part II
How can we have a cover feature on Rambo and *not* feature its amazing programmer Tony Pomfret. Lucky for us (and you) we get to chat to the great man about the making of this Ocean Software hit from 1985. Lots to chat about and lots to take in…
NEW & EXCLUSIVE POKES ‘N’ CODES
We have a whole page jam-packed with new and exclusive POKES ‘n’ CODES for the recently released The Isle of the Cursed Prophet from Psytronik Software. If you were stuck getting around the island, then fear not because we have every POKE imaginable to help you through the game.
THE MAKING OF… FIX IT FELIX JR.
Another Tony to chat to. This time round it’s the lovely Tony Savona who spills the beans on the making of his recent C64 title, Fix It Felix Jr. Lots of development details to share with you, and we also reveal a few sprites that were omitted from the final release.
MY C64 HEAVEN WITH PHIL WHEATLEY
And finally – FREEZE64 subscriber Phil Wheatley kindly shares his C64 collection with us all. Lots of goodies in his collection.
An absolute JAM-PACKED issue of new and exclusive Commodore 64 content.
